BRUNEL UNMANNED AERIAL SYSTEMS

Design and Manufacture of an Autonomous Aerial Vehicle for Payload Drop and Reconnaissance Missions

Our project focused on creating a comprehensive Unmanned Aerial System (UAS), involving design, modeling, and manufacturing:

  • Designed and model the entire UAS (unmanned Arial System) for FEA and CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) Testing, Maintaining a comprehensive archive of design changes.

  • Work was conducted as part of a cohesive team of 7, my responsibility being the aerodynamic design (FEA) and modelling (CFD) of the UAS.

  • The design was then optimized based on CFD analysis, tailoring the UAS to meet the systems, propulsion, and structural requirements.

  • This project was conducted as part of the IMechE UAS Challenge 2020, where our team placed 6 out of 36 universities and received the safety award for our design.

  • The project was completed with support from the BRUAS (Brunel Unmanned Aerial) Society ran by the members of our team, Established for the continued annual entry into the UAS Challenge.
